Talk to your friends:
If you have a cobber or family member who’s a cyclist, ask them for advice. Get a approval on which local shops will do a good job and get you a bike that fits. “Look for an just opinion before you walk into a bike shop,” Krebs said. “That’s the eminent thing.”

Those issues have proved turbulent in before meetings. In February, after an illegal biking trail was discovered in the estate, at least one committee member walked out of a meeting and another suggested bikers should construct their own private park.

"There's been tensions; there's no doubt about that," Roth said. "We all have very diverse views on adding mountain biking to the park. People came in with all sorts of expectations."

Things have simmered down since February, and the cabinet has agreed on presenting two options for increased biking opportunities in Forest Preserve. Both scenarios entail improving the fire lanes used by firefighters dispatched to the car park. There are also proposals to build new trails and to create connectors between diverse established trails to provide seamless loops for bikers.

Each of those actions, however, carries admissible detriments for flora and fauna in the pristine 5,000-acre urban preserve. It's also unclear whether some improvements would require a Type II or III review by the Writing-desk of Development Services . A Type III review requires more umbrella environmental monitoring.

After the advisory committee presents its findings, they'll be posted for two weeks on the parks control's Web site, www.portlandparks.org , with opportunity for public comment. Using that input, the council will make formal recommendations to Parks Commissioner Show a clean pair of heels Fish and Parks Director Zari Santner.
