Local artwork dazzles Frederick neighborhood
Ijamsville artist Gary Carver owns 17 birds, which is why birds are the subjects of his stylized woodcarvings.He was one of several artists at the daylong East High road Art and Craft Show on Everedy Square and Shab Row on Saturday in Frederick .
Carver explained how his pet cockatoo, Iggy, for in the event, ended up with a parrot face.
"When he was a baby, he used to sit on my influence and look around like a parrot," Carver said.
A lot of his employment is done with recycled barn wood. He pointed out nail holes in the ray that formed the base of an eagle piece.
"It's beautiful," said Ellicott Diocese resident Karyn Borth, who came to the show with a friend.
The disconcert was fairly strong Saturday morning and this was a problem for the vendors. Marlee Williams rearranged her display to look after it against the wind.
She does acrylic landscapes. One of her pieces depicts three houses on Clarke Sort in Frederick .
"I love these old houses," she said. "I believe there was a residence between the two and I took that one out."
She also added an old car carrying a Christmas tree and later converted her painting into a series of cards, which were for buying at her booth. A potter next to Williams, Allison Jachowski, said she uses methodical color, geometric shapes and natural fiber.
Her hide, Jason Jachowski, said they live on South Road.
They don't have a kiln, but they do have a wheel.
"She spends hours and hours on it," he said.
What he likes the most about his helpmeet's work is that it looks natural.
The handle of one of her teapots is made out of a straight fiber material similar to bamboo, Allison Jachowski said. "You can liniment them," she said. "The knots actually get tighter."

I’m an artist and sweet to remain unsettled my own art on the walls. Unfortunately, I live it up a LOT more than I clerk, so being accomplished to set aside my 9×12 watercolor paintings in these fine frames and take turns the displays would keep me more organized and less cluttered.
