Radiac Abrasives Completes 2-Million Dollar Expansion; Adding Jobs

Radiac President and Chief President Officer David Pryor says the expansion will introduce work from a plant that has been closed near Cincinnati Ohio to Salem and will outcome in 20 to 40 jobs over the next three to six months.  "We are in the technique of adding in the neighborhood of 45,000 square feet of manufacturing arrange in two phases.  In phase one, the building is complete and motionless today.  Phase two, which is the larger phase, the erection is about 50 percent complete and they will start pouring floors on Monday," Pryor said.

 

Pryor says 100 pieces of materiel are being moved from the Ohio plant, with much of it already stored off site waiting for the bourgeoning project to be completed.  In addition to the work from Ohio, Pryor says their orders for grinding wheels are up as the control begins to improve for the auto, aerospace, and steel mill industries. 

 

"All of the people who were laid off from the smoothness are now back working.  Not only working full time, but putting in tremendous amounts of overtime to slake demand," Pryor said.   "So we will be adding headcount in the works throughout the balance of 2010.  We are interviewing on an almost daily point of departure now to find the kind of operator we need, skilled machinists who are hand-me-down to working in a factory environment." 

 

Pryor is also delighted to announce the 20 percent wage reductions implemented for all salaried employees last summer were all restored at the end of the year.  He reports the stretching is the result of a study by the company's new owner, Austrian based Tyrolit, that found Salem as their most dynamic plant in making grinding wheel products.
